Parents - Have your Say.
To talk to other parents who are trained researchers in February and April 2009, contact Sue Grout, Parent Involvement worker, sue.grout@norfolk.gov.uk or call or text 07788 437530. Each person completing the survey will get a £5 voucher.
Places must be booked very soon for the meeting of children, young people, parents and carers on Saturday 28th February 2009, East City Children's Centre, Duckett Close, Norwich, 10am - 1pm.
Each person taking part will get a £10 shopping voucher.
Training :
An introduction to Norfolk's Protocol, "Enabling Parents with a Disability or Long Term Illness".
Open to all, this aims to give more understanding of working with disabled parents and their children, and how to use the Protocol to ensure best outcomes for families.
A workshop to help identify young carers, listen to them and understand their needs, know about options for support and Norfolk young carers' projects at
Youth Work Development Unit in Sprowston on Thursday 19th March, 9.30am - 12.30pm.

New Resource: My Pregnancy My Choice.
This is a practical handbook for parents with learning disabilities to use at home. It has clear and easy to understand words and pictures about pregnancy.
Conference.

Research:
A Women's Aid report on violence to disabled women in their own homes. It says disabled women have more need for services because of the type of abuse they experience but there are less services for them than for non-disabled women. It is often almost impossible to escape.
There should be improved partnership between domestic violence services and disabled people's groups and more accessible support services should be developed. More info from www.womensaid.org.uk
